Rainbow Bridge
Whilst we focus on saving lives here at Hakuna Matata Animal Trust inevitably there comes a time when all creatures pass.
This section is to remember those that have lived and been loved here with us at Hakuna Matata Animal Trust.
Rosie 14.02.2016 - 02.07.2022
Poppy 14.02.2016 - 17.02.2023
Rosie and Poppy were our first pigs and Hakuna Matata was set up in their memory.
Through having Rosie and Poppy from tiny piglets, my love of pigs grew. Sadly, although they were bought as 'Micro pigs' they also grew and sadly through ill breeding came a lot of health issues, and despite our best efforts along with the vets, they didn't reach the life expectancy we had hoped for.

Perci (Percival) 30.10.2012 - 12.09.2023
Little Brown 30.10.2013 - 11.09.23
Perci was Little Brown's Dad. Both elderly rams, they came from a working farm. The farmers have now retired abroad and had nowhere for these boys to go, so they came here to Hakuna Matata to live out the rest of their lives. With their actual birth date unknown we made their birthday the date they arrived with us... 30th October!
They were very amusing characters here, loving the company of the horses, they got used to us humans too and we grew to love them very much.
Sadly, Little Brown passed away and the following day we found Perci had also passed, (we believe of a broken heart) they were inseparable in life and also in death and they are both very sadly missed.
Bunny 17/04/2025 ~ 07/01/2026
Bunny, we think was a Texel x lamb. She came to us with her adopted brother Arlo from a lady who had taken the two in but could no longer look after them due to other commitments.
Bunny had many health problems from the start, but with every battle she was faced with she fought so hard and was an inspiration to us all.
In the end Bunny's health problems got the better of her and she lost her fight at just 9 months old.
In her short existence she had such a huge impact on us all at the sanctuary. Despite her battles she was so full of life and love.
There is a book coming out soon in loving memory of Bunny ~ "Some Bunny Who Stole Our Hearts" by Author and founder of the sanctuary Hayley Prescott

Baxter 06/05/2014 ~ 26/01/2026
Baxter was a Juliana pig, one of the naturally smaller breeds of pigs.
Baxter was brought to Hakuna Matata by his previous owner through no fault of either of theirs but down to personal circumstances out of their control.
Baxter's previous owner would come and visit him whenever she could.
He was a loved pig by everyone, he had the most charming personality, a drama queen and a real pampered pig who loved belly rubs so much, he would cry for more once left.
Baxter crossed rainbow bridge in his sleep as an old man, the way we all hope to go when the time goes, but even so his presence is missed by everyone and his memory will live on forever at the sanctuary.

Nellie 06/10/2015 ~ 15/03/2026
Nellie was a beautiful Shetland sheep. Her face was almost cartoon like- big eyes, goofy teeth and a badger like face.
She really was a beautiful sheep with a beautiful soul!
Nellie came to us with her 3 younger sisters; Tallulah, Rosey and Oona.
The girls came from a working farm where they were seen as no more use after getting bad foot conditions.
Nellie and her sisters were brought back to good health and Nellie lived a very happy life running around the fields with her sisters right up until her last moments.
